Greetings everyone. It’s a pleasure to be part of this exciting project. I’m thrilled with the prospect of delving into the morass of online content to find those user-generated pearls of wisdom that come from the hearts and minds of freethinking outspoken citizens. I love to share the thoughts of real people. In a democracy there is nothing more important than the uninhibited exchange of ideas.

Here’s a little about me:

Q. What part of the country do you live in?
A. Midwest: Madison, WI.

Q. Why are you interested in Web 2.0 and the election?
A. I’ve always been fascinated by the power of the web. In this most amazing election cycle I’m really excited to discover the impact that the Internet will have on the campaign process.

Q. What candidates/issues/other aspects of the campaign particularly interest you?
A. My primary interests as far as issues are the environment, health care and civil rights (in that order).

Q. What kind of work or studies are you involved in?
A. I’m a full-time freelance journalist with steady gigs in both print and podcasting. My area of specialization is business reporting in the outdoor and fitness industries as well as human interest writing on the cultural artifacts of the active lifestyle.

Q. What do you like to do in your free time?
A. I do a lot with my hands. I work in stained glass. I do woodworking (straight cut furniture at the moment). And I’ve got a nice little garden. The running, swimming, biking and rock climbing I do are folded into my day job.

Q. Courtesy of Jake: Who is your favorite Beatle?
A. Billy Preston.
