Admit You’re Wrong
February 27, 2008 – 4:49 pmJen, a Californian blogger who also writes for a group blog called MOMocrats, is frustrated with both Democratic candidates after last night’s Cleveland debate. All it would take to get her support, she says, is this:
Stop hedging. Stop couching everything. Admit you could have done something different. And you know, if just once you actually said you were wrong, I’d fall off the fence onto your side.
Hey, I thought ______ was a good idea but you know, once I voted for it and we rolled it out, I realized I was wrong. But I’ve learned from it and now I’d do _______ .
Just try it. We’ll love you for it in the morning. We don’t need a superhero.
Yeah, “sorry” helps every now and then.

I agree with Jen. It brings me back to the Kerry “flip-flop” accusation. I’d rather have a president who changed his mind based on different circumstances or new information rather than just sticking to his side no matter what.
Also, it is rarely mentioned that most congressional bills have many parts. So, sometimes a politician may have to vote for a bill that includes things he doesn’t like, in order to vote for something that he likes and thinks is important. Perfection in politics is impossible.
