Happy 4th of July (Soul of America)

Jellykka (Angelica Oung) explains that her inspiration for this song came from the Patriot Act, US-Mexico border issues, and Guantanamo. She had the idea, she says, a couple of years ago but had to “get some guitar skillz” before she could write it. She aimed for “a song that tied all those problems together as symptoms of the same disease — fear — while also remaining hopeful that America will return to her ideals in the future.” Her big wish is that the song be obsolete by Campaign 2012. (Thanks, Sarolta Cump.)

She just needs a dash of red on that guitar and it would be better than a lapel pin.
