Gustav and the GOP

Today is Katrina’s third anniversary, and it seems that Gustav may brew into a New Orleans hurricane of comparable strength. Junichi Semitsu — who teaches at the University of San Diego School of Law, was the embedded blogger for the Dixie Chicks, and collects Pez dispensers — makes the election connection:

I would never wish another hurricane upon New Orleans (or anywhere else).

But some reports say Hurricane Gustav might hit New Orleans soon, just in time for the Republican National Convention.

Oh my Lord, the irony.

Al Gore surely would agree. (He claimed in his convention speech this week that McCain “has now apparently allowed his party to browbeat him into abandoning his support of mandatory caps on global warming pollution.”)
