The second presidential debate is tonight. Have you wondered why only McCain and Obama are debating even though many voters would like other candidates included? Why not Libertarian Party candidate Bob Barr? Or Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney? Or any of the other candidates running for the presidency?

The Commission on Presidential Debates apparently says you need certain prerequisites to join in — like a minimum threshold of national support. (Interesting note: the CBD was established by the Republican and Democratic parties and is headed by two former party heads.)

Michael Aranda’s likely answer? It’s because the two-party system has us in a box. (Thanks, Sue Salinger.)

So Michael may not be watching tonight.
