Dictionary [sAeroZar / Flickr]
[Ann Raber is a BallotVox co-curator.]
Urban Dictionary is a free-for-all dictionary of slang, where anyone can post words or definitions. With little regulation other than a thumbs-up/thumbs-down poll rating a definition's veracity, the site has come to include proper nouns, colloquial expressions, and a plethora of portmanteaus.

James Mills found this photograph. Eric Adolff (aka Buzz Killington) -- failed musician turned graffiti hunter -- took it in Denver. At first view it's just another example of great Obama street art. If you look a little more closely, though, you'll notice that the quotation isn't what Obama ...

We've posted several times about the racism Obama faces in his campaign. (Here, here, and here.) This story, found by Sue Salinger, is the rawest example so far. Frank lives in Tuscon, Arizona, and he's a "blue collar-type fella." His interests range from lifting heavy stuff to ...

This one is a puzzle. Ruben Carbajal, a writer in Brooklyn, NY, took the photo a few weeks after the primaries started. I love the fact that the poster references a specific neighborhood and is on a mailbox, but who controls Obama, Edwards, Clinton, and Giuliani's marionette strings? Is the ...

The very day that Moveon.org expressed some alarm at Obama's support of the FISA bill, it also persevered with a "Hungry for Change" Obama bake sale. Cookies were made and sold across the country, from New York City to Missoula, Montana. (Thanks, Sue Salinger and Ann Raber.)
In Austin, Texas, Cara ...

On Friday, Barack Obama declared that he supports the FISA bill wending its way through Congress. This is the bill that essentially allows the government more leeway to wiretap and gives the telecom companies immunity for handing records to the Bush administration. Many Democratic voters seem unhappy.

Sarolta Cump found this video about another aspect of Obama's public-financing decision: "runaway" campaign costs. Stephen is a 22-year-old in Tennessee who considers himself one of Obama's "biggest supporters." He has a bumper sticker, he preaches the Obama gospel, and he donated during the primaries. Although he's still on ...

On Thursday, Barack Obama declined public financing for the general election. There was a slight lag before citizen talk revved up online -- maybe everyone needed to brush up on campaign finance laws? -- but it was in full swing yesterday. The common camps: 1) Obama lied; he's ...

I've been waiting for the right moment to feature this photo of Obama and the Orange Monster, but oddly enough there hasn't been a relevant news peg. Paired with the second photo, though, it might be the start of a series: Obama with pals in windows.

Back to the Democrats for a second for an amusement found by James Mills. San Francisco-based web designer Wayne Bremser discovered this t-shirt on Haight Street:

Manny from Orlando, Florida, might be a film student or an ob-gyn, depending on how you read his profile. He is without question, though, a fiery Clinton supporter, and he's pissed off at Barack Obama. So pissed off that he's going to vote for McCain in the general election (hat ...

Judith appears to be a graduate student and NGO intern who spends a good deal of time in Africa. She was in Kenya when Obama won the necessary delegates for the Democratic nomination, and she recorded an op-ed in the local paper (hat tip to Ann Raber):
